Declan O’Rourke

About

I am currently Associate Director of Research for Children’s Health Ireland, with a remit to drive and develop the ATMPs program in CHI. We have formed a collaboration with the CRF at St. James Hospital to facilitate gene therapy delivery for the first time in Ireland to treat children (with Spinal Muscular Atrophy). We have delivered gene therapy to 8 children in total. I am currently a lead collaborator with the National Newborn Screening Committee to implement Newborn Screening for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. I have also been a trainer in a peer to peer Novartis Gene Therapies preceptorship and on Novartis run Gene Therapy in Practice forum (GTiP) to train colleagues in Nordic and other European countries on site set up and clinical applications relating to gene therapy delivery.
