A pathway towards partnership between Canada’s Centre for Commercialization of Regenerative Medicine (CCRM) and Ireland’s Rinn Advanced Therapies centre has been recognised at the highest level of government, named in the Joint Statement on Advancing the Canada-Ireland Partnership issued by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and An Taoiseach Micheál Martin on 13 June 2026.
The statement commits both governments to exploring opportunities to support the commercialisation of emerging health technology platforms and the next generation of medicines, specifically referencing the Memorandum of Understanding signed between CCRM and Rinn Advanced Therapies.
The recognition places Rinn Advanced Therapies within a broader bilateral framework covering life sciences, biomanufacturing and health security, an area both governments identified as strategically important for resilient health systems and trusted supply chains.
About Rinn Advanced Therapies
Rinn Advanced Therapies is a Research Ireland-funded centre awarded over €51 million, targeting a further matching level of investment from industry and other sources. The centre focuses on the development and manufacture of personalised advanced cellular immune therapeutics, with significant potential across cancer treatment and a range of autoimmune conditions.
Led by Prof. Sakis Mantalaris, jointly appointed by NIBRT and Trinity College Dublin, the centre takes a personalised quality-by-design approach, delivering the right therapy, at the right dose, to the right patient, at the right time.
Ireland has a globally renowned pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and a significant opportunity to lead internationally in the development and delivery of advanced cellular immune therapies. Rinn Advanced Therapies will establish a vein-to-vein innovation ecosystem that connects discovery, manufacturing and implementation, while ensuring that patient access, affordability and availability are embedded from the very beginning.
