The event, “Revolutionising the Healthcare Product Life Cycle with Innovative Logistics,” took place at Kuehne+Nagel’s state-of-the-art 160,000 sq. ft. healthcare logistics facility in Dublin, Ireland on the 18th of September 2024. A panel of experts gathered to discuss key insights and emerging trends in the healthcare sector, emphasizing the crucial role of innovative logistics solutions in shaping the future, especially in pioneering fields such as advanced therapies.

Ireland’s Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation, Dara Calleary, said, “As we look to the future, it is clear that the success of advanced therapies like cell and gene treatments will not only depend on scientific breakthroughs but also on our ability to manage complex logistical demands.”

NIBRT CEO Darrin Morrissey, who was part of the panel of speakers on the day, said, ”Advanced and personalized cell and gene-based therapies, while having incredible potential in terms of therapeutic benefits for patients, can be difficult to manufacture and also have significant supply chain complexity often involving taking samples from the patient, processing the sample and getting finished product back to the same patient. The expertise, technology and infrastructure offered by companies like Kuehne+Nagel QuickSTAT provide modern solutions to the supply chain challenges associated with ATMPs”.
