The second seminar in the GENEGUT online series, coordinated by the UCC School of Pharmacy and the GENEGUT consortium, will take place on 5 June 2025 from 3:00–4:00 PM, focusing on breakthroughs in mRNA delivery.
This public session will feature Dr. Ameya Kirtane from the University of Minnesota, who will present on the topic:
“Designing solutions for overcoming barriers to gastrointestinal mRNA delivery.”
Dr. Kirtane’s research explores innovative strategies to enhance mRNA therapeutics via non-invasive gastrointestinal routes—an exciting step toward broadening the real-world applications of mRNA technologies. His insights into nanoparticle engineering and drug formulation align closely with GENEGUT’s mission to advance mucosal drug delivery platforms.
This seminar is open to all researchers, students, and members of the public interested in the future of therapeutic delivery systems.
About the speaker:
Dr. Kirtane is an Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota, with a research background shaped by work at MIT under Profs. Bob Langer and Gio Traverso. He brings expertise in nanotechnology and GI-based drug delivery, holding over 40 publications and 9 patent applications.
